Alliance Applying for Childcare Strategy Development

The La Plata Economic Development Alliance, in collaboration with the city of Durango, is currently in the process of applying for a $55,000 state grant to conduct a comprehensive study on the area’s childcare needs–similar to our workforce housing investment strategy. If awarded, this grant will enable us to develop a regional childcare investment strategy, with the aim of addressing the challenges faced by workers juggling their jobs and family responsibilities due to the lack of accessible and affordable childcare options. While the grant application is pending, we are working closely with organizations such as the Early Childhood Council of La Plata County and the La Plata Food Equity Coalition to gather essential data and insights to inform our strategy. Stay tuned for updates on our progress as we strive to create a more resilient and supportive community for all.
