The La Plata Economic Development Alliance is excited to announce the upcoming 2024 Alliance Leadership Summit on Thursday, September 19 at the Sky Ute Casino & Convention Center. This year’s event will explore the core aspects driving the work in our region — People, place, and purpose.
The 2024 Alliance Summit is set to be a pivotal event of inspiration and education, gathering our region’s top leaders, thinkers, and innovators for the 17th consecutive year. Attendees can look forward to a dynamic program featuring thought-provoking discussions and engaging workshops, complimented by empowering messages from keynote speakers who exemplify this year’s theme elements.
“The Alliance is known for our P3 work in the community, leveraging our public-private partnerships for economic development. Exploring the themes of the new P3 – People, Place, Purpose – allows us to focus on what truly matters in our community and find a deeper understanding of those economic drivers,” said Sarah Tober, La Plata Economic Development Alliance Executive Director. “By recognizing the employees who power our economy, the place we work and call home, and the deeper meaning behind our collective efforts, we connect to meaningful work that builds community equity.”
2024 Alliance Summit keynote speakers include:
People – Lucia Knell, Vice President of Upworthy and co-author of GOOD PEOPLE: Stories From the Best of Humanity
Place – Captain Charlie Plumb, former Navy fighter pilot and Vietnam POW
Purpose – Matthew Emerzian, Founder of Every Monday Matters
“La Plata County’s commitment to sustainable and intentional community development is
remarkable,” said Matthew Emerzian, Founder of Every Monday Matters. “I’ve traveled all over the country, but I am especially excited to visit your community to be a part of this impact, sharing insights and experiences to further strengthen the incredible work already in progress.”
In addition to hosting the 2024 Alliance Summit, The La Plata Economic Alliance is looking forward to the launch of a leadership development cohort at this year’s Summit. This leadership cohort will meet quarterly at the Innovation Center in Downtown Durango after the initial launch at the Summit and will focus on innovation in economic development.
