Herald Reports: Two Durango Projects receive housing catalyst fund money.

The La Plata Economic Development Alliance (Alliance) Housing Catalyst Fund Committee and Working Group successfully concluded the third round of funding for housing projects this summer. The Catalyst Fund—established by the Alliance in collaboration with its consultant team, Project Moxie—aims to identify and support potential workforce housing projects across the County.

“We are so proud to have awarded $517,052 to-date from the Alliance Catalyst Fund, resulting in 464 workforce housing units developed or preserved in La Plata County. In making these investments, we are also leveraging local funds to help fast track projects and expand access to state funding. The state wants to see local investment as well as multi-organizational collaboration when possible in these Prop 123 applications. The Catalyst Fund is helping to provide just that.”

The Catalyst Fund received four applications in its third round and awarded pre-development funds to three workforce housing development projects in La Plata County. Similar to Round 2, Round 3 of the Catalyst Fund supported preservation projects and received one application for Mobile Home Park Preservation. This funding round focused on projects that will be applying for state resources within the next 12 months.

Of the three projects awarded, two are in Durango: Animas View Mobile Home Park Co-op and Twin Buttes Townhomes. Pine River Commons in Bayfield also received funding. These projects include a mix of for-sale units and mobile home park preservation efforts.
